Preptober is here!
It's time to get ready for Novel Quest with other writers!
October is here and with that our writing prep workshops!
Each of our two-hours workshops this month are designed to help you draft and write your story, taught by Novel Quest Volunteers. We’ll be meeting at Nichols Library in Naperville for each one, but are offering these in a hybrid nature.
How to use tropes in your writing: an interactive workshop:
Saturday, October 4th, 1-3 PM CDT, Nichols Library (Naperville), Co-working space (lower level) .Register to receive the link for virtual attendance.
In this workshop, we will talk about the use and pitfalls of tropes, how writers use them to engage with their readers, and how you can make them sing in your own work. We will break into teams for group discussions about the tropes in media that we like, and work individually on how to implement them in our works-in-progress. Bring nothing but ideas and, maybe, a pencil!
Planning, Pantsing, and Plantsing: Writing Tips for a Spectrum of Styles:
Saturday, October 11th, 1-3 PM CDT, Nichols Library (Naperville), Co-working space (lower level). Register to receive the link for virtual attendance.
Many writers like to self-identify as ‘planners’ or ‘pantsers’, but most fall somewhere in between. But how does one write a novel if there isn’t one right way to do it? This workshop will cover a myriad of writing styles and preferences, as well as tips and tricks to prepping for a big writing project. Show up ready to share your strengths and roadblocks, and leave with a road map for building a customized tool kit that works best for you.
Story Wall Party:
Saturday, October 18th, 1-3 PM CDT, Nichols Library (Naperville), Co-working space (lower level). Register to receive the link for virtual attendance.
